This is a wonderful French vintage linen fabric with a superb design.
I have a number of these and each one will have the design in a different place and some have different flowers on. All are part of the same fabric design, it is just that each piece was sewn together in a circle and gathered at the top. The top and bottom edges had hems which I have carefully unpicked for you.

Each piece measures - 81cms x 23cms ( 32" x 9")

I have 3 pieces They are separate pieces. £8 The price is for one piece. If you would like a piece then please comment here or order from the website.

Please note that due to the sunshine when photographing, the images look as if the flowers are faded when in fact they are a very strong colour.

An idea for using old embroidery pieces at Rag Rescue

When I see a pile of embroidered tray cloths and cushion covers, I always think of the hours a lady has spent in deep concentration, embroidering them.
Here is an idea for using some pieces and keeping the embroidery alive.

Superb Textile Art by Sophie Standing

Sophie Standing was born in England and grew up in Hampshire. She studied wood, metal, ceramics and textiles at Liverpool Hope University. Since graduating, Sophie has worked as an artist in many different mediums, including works in ceramics, stained glass windows, weaving, dress making and more recently experimenting with textile art. She was fortunate for many years to be part of the team that designed, installed and displayed the award winning windows at Fortnum and Mason, Piccadilly, London. She is also an accomplished wedding florist and fine artist, life drawing being a speciality.

In 2003 Sophie moved to Cape Town, South Africa and is now living in Karen, Kenya. Sophie’s textile embroidered art is inspired by the flora and fauna around her in Africa and combines this with her passion for fabrics and textiles. Her one off pieces are created by appliqueing an intricate collage of fabric onto the canvas where her image is already sketched out. She then draws the details over the top of the fabric with her sewing machine using many different coloured threads.

Sophie has an extensive collection of fabrics from all over the world and in a vast array of designs and textures, ranging across haberdashery, dress making, quilting, new and vintage, floral, modern, wool, cotton, silk……Liberty and Kaffe Fasset being among her favourites.

Although Sophie enjoys working towards exhibitions she usually works to private commission and enjoys the process of working closely with clients on a project. She has sold works to clients in Kenya, South Africa, UK and Germany.

Good and bad news at Rag Rescue

Morecambe Bay

Today I have good news and bad news. Strating with the good news, which is that I had a super day yesterday. All of the lace cards and embroidery pieces have been sold as well as other items too.
The bad news arrived when I switched on my laptop this morning. It appears that the checkout on the Rag Rescue isn't working for some reason. Thank you to a lovely customer for informing me of this.
I am trying to get it fixed as soon as possible but in the meantime if you wish to order from the site, could you please contact me with the ref. numbers via the contact page. I will get back to you asap and send you a paypal invoice.
Thank you for your patience.

New listing regime at the Rag Rescue website

'New Listings' category.

I'm afraid I will not be listing items every day in the near future. I have decided that I will only be listing at the beginning of each month.

I would like to explain my reasons for this new listing regime.
I have been extremely busy of late, all due to my mother having to go into a care home. Three years ago, she didn't want to get rid of anything, when she left her house, so it all had to go into storage. The lock - up we found looked ideal at the time, however three years later we discovered that it was very damp due to condensation. Now that I am having to clear it out, it means that I am having to unwrap, wash and wrap everything again ready for sale. A mammoth job as there are approx. 60 banana boxes to work on. My house, now has the contents of the lock-up in almost every room and it is driving me crazy.
When I have sold everything, I want to change the room my mother lived in, into a super craft room. Afterwards I have to do our  tax returns plus the business, which I would normally have completed by now.
After telling all this to a good customer friend of mine, she said what I needed a holiday, a housekeeper and an accountant. Well I can't afford a housekeeper and although I have an accountant, I prepare everything myself to keep costs down. The holiday this year is just a 2 day trip to London to the O2 to see Monty Python, a 65th birthday gift for my husband from my son.
So... being so stressed I searched my grey matter for something to relieve the pressure I am under and came up with the idea above.

Today, items that have listed can be found in the

'New Listings' category.

Here are some images of the Items listed.
