Vintage fabric covered screen

I got away with the flu last year but it has caught up with me this past week. Oh to feel fit again.

I thought you would like this idea of using vintage fabric for covering a screen.

You will find lots of vintage fabrics on the Rag Rescue website that would be ideal for this project.

Antique French toile fabric listing today at Rag Rescue

It is 4.30am and I'm sitting in my study with a coffee to try and get rid of the last dregs of sleep. I had to go to bed at 6pm last night as the streaming cold that troubled me all day just got the better of me. There's only so much sleep a girl can have in one night. So here I am and thought I'd start work as I have to take mum for a biopsy this morning, out of the door at 8am even though the appointment isn't until 10am. Why is it that there is never enough parking spaces for anyone at hospitals?

Anyway back to business. At 7am there will be four wonderful antique fragments of French toile fabric going on to the website. I'll write a description for you underneath each photo and you will be able to find them at www.ragrescue.co.uk in the 'Larger fabrics' section.

NEW TO RAG RESCUE - ANTIQUE FRENCH TOILE FABRIC SCRAP PACKS

I get quite a lot of French toile fabric in and some of it is so damaged that I can't get out the whole design.

I suddenly had a thought about cutting out the interesting tiny pieces, as I know that people who make cards or small collages will love them.

Fabric strip rolls at Rag Rescue today.

Today I have placed some vitnage and antique fabric strip rolls onto the website. Two of the four strip rolls have now sold out but here is a French vintage fabric strip roll from c.1890. It has lovely pink and blue flowers and trailing ribbons. Wonderfully shabby chic. I have a number of these of differing lengths so when this one sells I'll update.

This piece is 1.17m/46" long x 11.5cms/4.5" wide

Another fabric strip roll at Rag Rescue.

More antique red and blue antique toile fabric.

As requested more antique toile fabrics have been placed on the website today.

This is a design I haven't seen previously. I tried to find out what the design is but to no avail I'm afraid. So let's call it lovers in a cave.

This is an early piece probably late 18th century going by the feel of the fabric and the dye colour.

A tiny hole to left of the woman's arm.

20cms x 20/21cms (7.9" x 7.9"/8.3")

This piece would look superb framed.

A great design on this fabric. the cotton fabric with the red toile design is stitched onto a backing of linen. There are some stitch holes at the bottom of the piece.
15cms x 25.5cms  (5.9" x 10")

Vintage French red toile covered in roses - Jan 38
If you like roses you will love this design. Roses and ribbons, our favourites.
42cms x 38cms   (16.5" x 15")
Good strong cotton.

Sorry this fabric has been sold.
